JOHN MOBEGI, PHD

This research paper  focuses on Kenyan immigrants who migrated to the United States to seek education and employment opportunities.  Interviews were conducted with Kenyan immigrants in northern California in the United States.  As immigrants arrive and settle in the United States, they are faced with complex challenges such as cultural and social barriers.  These barriers play a significant role in determining their career advancement in various organizations.  The research examines the role of culture and social barriers that prevent or hinder the Kenyan immigrants from attaining leadership positions in private and public organizations in the United States.  The findings indicate the continued challenges experienced by immigrants in an effort to climb up the corporate ladder even after living in the United States for many years.
